Mental health and wellbeing policy

The purpose of this policy is for Austonia Trades P/L to establish, promote and maintain the mental health and wellbeing of all employees through workplace practices, and encourage employees to take responsibility for their own mental health and wellbeing.

 

Austonia Trades P/L believes that the mental health and wellbeing of our employees are key to organisational success and sustainability. This policy applies to all employees of Austonia Trades P/L and it´s goals are:

 

  • To recognise that health is more than just the absence of illness and injury, and the workplace culture and environment contribute significantly to individuals’ ability to make healthy lifestyle choices, including emotional wellbeing.
  • To build and maintain a workplace environment and culture that supports mental health and wellbeing.
  • To increase employee knowledge and awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues and behaviours.
  • To reduce stigma around depression and anxiety in the workplace.
  • To support and promote employee wellbeing through different initiatives, work practices, a positive culture and leadership.

 

All employees are encouraged to:

 

  • understand this policy and seek clarification from management where required
  • consider this policy while completing work-related duties and at any time while representing Austonia Trades P/L
  • support colleagues in their awareness of this policy
  • support and contribute to Austonia Trades P/L’s aim of providing a mentally healthy and supportive environment for all employees.

 

PCBU/Supervisors/Managers must:

 

  • ensure that all employees are made aware of this policy
  • actively support and contribute to the implementation of this policy, including its goals
  • manage the implementation and review of this policy

 

Employees must:

 

  • take reasonable care of their own mental health and wellbeing, including physical health
  • take reasonable care that their actions do not affect the health and safety of other people in the workplace

 

Employees who are experiencing issues with their mental health can find general information on sources of support in the Mental Health Booklet, which is accessible in the FAQ section of the employee portal and mobile application.

 

If an employee is concerned about the mental health of a colleague, they should raise these concerns with their supervisor/manager and/or Human Resources.

 

Supervisors/managers who are concerned about a member of staff should use the Mental Health Support Procedure and inform Human Resources.
